Job Summary
Staff Engineer - Guidance Navigation Controls to design and develop flight control algorithms for manned and unmanned air vehicles. Responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing, verifying and testing guidance, navigation and control algorithms and simulations; developing outer and inner loop control laws and related autonomy functions; building linear and nonlinear dynamic models and integrating them into software/hardware-in-the-loop simulations; performing performance and flying qualities analyses; supporting flight test activities and analyzing flight test data; contributing to design reviews (PDR/CDR). Requires experience with fixed-wing flight dynamics, MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, C/C++, Python, and an active US government Secret clearance or higher. Travel up to 25% and potential relocation assistance available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field with 12 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree with 10 years; OR a PhD with 8 years
- Experience with Fixed-wing aircraft flight dynamics
- A proficient knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink
- C/C++ and Python programming
- Active security clearance (US Government Secret) or higher with ability to obtain SAP
- Ability to travel 25%
- Relocation availability may be provided
- Strong control theory understanding (outer/inner loop)*
- Knowledge of autopilot and autonomous flight control
