Job Summary
Staff Engineer for GEICO's Customer Platform focused on evolving geico.com and its supporting systems with speed to market, security, 24x7 availability, and high user engagement. Responsibilities include designing and building scalable web applications across front-end and back-end, performing design evaluations and code reviews, managing day-to-day engineering activities, simplifying designs and deployment plans, ensuring production availability and performance, collaborating across the software lifecycle, setting KPIs, mentoring peers, and evaluating new technologies to drive innovation. The role requires broad full-stack knowledge (Next.js/React, Python/Django, NGINX, PostgreSQL), cloud infrastructure familiarity, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD, and strong communication skills for senior stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of customer facing web applications with experience in Next.JS/React, JavaScript, Python/Django, NGINX, or PostgreSQL
- Strong background in delivering digital web products at scale
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, platforms, and technologies
- Advanced understanding of application and infrastructure monitoring and tooling
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience designing flexible, scalable, high-availability Cloud native applications
- Experience architecting and designing new and current systems
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, Release Management, and Configuration Management processes tooling
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Experience delivering within a customer facing application backed by a Content Management system is desired
- Understanding of data modeling and AI concepts is desired
