Job Summary
Staff Engineer to support engineering design and analysis for land development projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and updating design drawings and technical reports; utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D to prepare plan sheets; assessing and mitigating project risks; performing and/or checking technical calculations; applying engineering principles to resolving permitting, design, and construction challenges; providing technical support for hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and modeling (stormwater detention and water quality BMP design), site grading, erosion and sediment control plans; researching regulations, codes, zoning ordinances, and ensuring project compliance; communicating with local government agencies to review and approve plan submissions; preparing reports, letters, and permit applications; observing fieldwork and documenting findings; collaborating with team members to meet deliverables; effectively communicating with clients, project managers, CAD designers, and other stakeholders; proactively identifying non-routine conditions and developing solutions; and growing into project management responsibilities over time. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineer-in-Training license, and experience with Virginia Stormwater Management Regulations, H&H modeling, and related software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- Basic civil engineering knowledge including land development, site design, post construction stormwater management design, Erosion and Sediment (E&S) design and permitting
