Job Summary
Staff Engineer - Backend (Finance Platform) at Coupang leads architecture and execution for partner settlement, payout, and core finance platforms at scale. Drives end-to-end platform delivery, migrates legacy components, and expands platform capabilities over the next 6–12 months. Will collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to set technical vision, decompose complex problems, and uphold high engineering standards across a 25+ person team. Key responsibilities include shaping data pipeline architecture, roadmapping scalable platform growth, enabling open and extensible platforms, aligning with stakeholders, and solving critical system issues. Required are 8+ years of Java software design and development experience, cloud/AWS proficiency, experience with scalable, highly available systems, container-based testing, and a Java/Spring/IntelliJ technology stack. The role supports Coupang’s hybrid model with at least 3 days in the office per week and flexible remote work. Location currently listed as Bengaluru, India.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software design and development in Java
- Hands-on experience with designing, building, and deploying scalable, high-availability systems
- Large system architecture design and development experience
- Experience with cloud computing with AWS
- Experience of developing container-based testing environment
- Experience with Java / IntelliJ / Spring environment
