Job Summary
Staff Backend Engineer to lead the evolution of Coupang’s real-time fraud detection platform for its e-commerce ecosystem. Own the fraud-detection domain end-to-end, drive platform architecture and reliability improvements, and foster cross-functional alignment with engineering, product, and data science. Define and deliver group-level OKRs, lead architecture design and reviews, and advance platform extensibility and ML-readiness. Bring hands-on expertise with Java/Spring Boot, Kafka, stream processing frameworks (Flink or Kafka Streams), and Cassandra/NoSQL, while mentoring senior engineers and elevating engineering standards. Hybrid/onsite work in Bengaluru.
Required Qualifications
- 10-13 years of backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Strong experience building and scaling large-scale distributed systems
- Hands-on expertise with Kafka, stream processing frameworks (Apache Flink or Kafka Streams), and Cassandra or similar NoSQL systems
- Proven track record of defining technical strategy and roadmaps, leading architecture reviews (AR), and delivering on group-level OKRs
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve systemic engineering challenges and drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong leadership in design reviews, mentoring senior engineers, and raising engineering quality standards.
