Job Summary
Hands-on Technology Lead / Staff Engineer role responsible for architectural oversight and driving the tech roadmap for AirAsia MOVE's backend services. Design and operate scalable, highly available microservices (Java/Spring Boot or similar) with low latency, troubleshoot production issues, mentor engineers on system design and code quality, and collaborate with product, DevOps, QA, and leadership to align on priorities. Own end-to-end delivery from requirements to deployment, monitoring, and support; drive architectural trade-offs for performance, reliability, and speed to market; guide tooling and platform choices, including cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, and observability practices (OpenTelemetry). Preferred candidates will have leadership experience, experience with messaging systems, and a broad backend/architecture toolkit to scale services across an OTA fintech-enabled travel platform.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of backend development experience
- at least 3 years in a leadership or senior architect role
- Expert in Java (Spring Boot) or equivalent backend stacks (Nodejs, Python, Go, etc.)
- Proven track record of designing and operating microservices at scale
- Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration
- Excellent debugging skills
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineering teams
