Job Summary
Staff Embedded Software Engineer leading design, development, and lifecycle management of software products for Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) and Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM). Responsibilities include mentoring engineering teams, guiding architecture and coding standards, collaborating with cross-functional groups to translate requirements into technical specifications, and driving security, scalability, and automation across Linux-based, containerized cloud environments. The role emphasizes delivering robust software, ensuring regulatory compliance, adopting new technologies, and maintaining high-quality engineering practices. Requires 10+ years of experience in C++/Python, experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, sensor/IOT architectures, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; travel up to 10%. Preferred: Master’s degree. Hybrid or onsite in Syracuse, NY with a security-conscious, US-citizen-only constraint.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with strong programming background
- 10+years of related professional experience
- Experience with architecting scalable cloud based systems in containerized environments
- Proficiency in developing on Linux-based operating systems
- Expertise in C++ and Python application development
- Strong experience with schema design and use of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Experience working with sensor devices and building scalable IoT architectures
- Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
- Experience with mobile app development
- 10% travel
