Job Summary
Staff Electrical Engineer, Systems Integration at Form Energy focuses on integrating power system equipment to transfer power from our iron-air batteries to the grid, assembling high-power circuitry, and collaborating with third-party power-conversion suppliers to advance the first multi-day storage product. Responsibilities include selecting, commissioning, and operating high-voltage equipment for testing; specifying and optimizing power-converter solutions; designing high-voltage control and power distribution panels with PCBAs and protection components; developing comprehensive system and component test plans for design verification, prototyping, and mass manufacturing; conducting root-cause analyses and implementing design improvements to BESS power collection topology; developing simulation models for power conversion and circuit interruption devices; and contributing to cross-functional engineering design of integrated BESS enclosures. The role may require up to 30% travel to Form Energy’s West Virginia plant. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) with 5 years of relevant experience is required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field
- 5+ years of post-baccalaureate experience in electrical engineering-related occupation
- 5 years of experience developing and integrating electrical systems, including power distribution and power conversion systems
- 5 years of experience using electrical schematic and CAD design software (e.g., Altium, Zuken, or Siemens Capital)
- 5 years of experience developing and executing test plans for design verification and validation (CAN, DAQ, dielectric strength measurement devices)
- 5 years of experience working with third-party vendors and multidisciplinary teams in design, development, and manufacturing environments
- 3 years of experience working with high voltage (>400 V) electrical systems and power converters with NFPA 70e safety practices
- 3 years of experience designing electrical systems compliant with UL 508A or equivalent, NEC, and functional safety standards
- 2 years of experience with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink)
- Ability to travel up to 30% to support manufacturing at WV plant
