Job Summary
Design Node.js-based REST API services and build full-stack web applications using React.js, delivering mobile-friendly Progressive Web App experiences for Emerson's custom enterprise tools. Implement offline-first caching strategies, service workers, and push notifications to ensure reliable performance across devices. Maintain MongoDB collections and schemas while debugging issues across Node.js, React, and PWA layers. Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and sprint-based delivery to support field teams accessing critical applications from any device.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in full-stack web development with hands-on delivery in Node.js and React
- Solid experience building REST API services with Node.js using Express.js or NestJS, including routing, middleware, authentication (JWT/OAuth2), and API versioning
- Strong proficiency in React, including component design, hooks, state management (Redux or Context API), and building responsive, mobile-optimized interfaces with modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Hands-on experience implementing PWA features: service workers, web app manifest, offline caching strategies (Cache API, Workbox), push notifications, and app installability
- Experience designing and delivering web applications that perform well on mobile and tablet devices, such as touch interactions, responsive layouts, performance optimization for mobile networks, and testing across device sizes
- Working experience with MongoDB, including document design, CRUD operations, indexing, and aggregation pipelines
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs, understanding of HTTP methods, JSON payloads, authentication patterns, and error handling
- Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools, and sprint-based delivery, with strong English communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Workbox or similar PWA tooling for advanced service worker and caching strategies
- Familiarity with Web Push API and push notification infrastructure (FCM, VAPID)
- Experience with GraphQL or WebSocket-based real-time features
- Knowledge of mobile web performance optimization: lazy loading, code splitting, Core Web Vitals
- Familiarity with Docker, Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing (Jest, Cypress, or Playwright)
- Experience working in international, cross-time zone Agile delivery teams
