Job Summary
Staff Design Evaluation Engineer in the Power Module Group to support the Multi-Market Power BU at ADI’s San Jose, CA offices. Responsibilities include assisting design engineers with feasibility and development of new power module products, assembling prototype eval boards, conducting performance evaluations (efficiency, thermal, transient responses, protections), developing automated data-collection/test systems, debugging product issues, generating detailed evaluation reports, supporting datasheet development, and contributing to model tools and training as needed. Requires strong analog/power circuit design background and hands-on lab testing, with proficiency in testing equipment and circuit-simulation tools.
Required Qualifications
- BSEE with power electronics background; MSEE a plus
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience in designing, building and testing switching-mode power supply circuits
- Strong skills in developing and evaluating/debugging analog circuit boards, especially switching mode power supplies
- Familiar with lab equipment: oscilloscope, power supply, e-load, loop analyzer
- Experience with switching-mode power converters (Buck, Boost, Flyback, Forward, Half-Bridge, Full Bridge)
- Experience with circuit design and simulation tools (PSPICE, LTspice, OrCAD)
- Test equipment programming a plus
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Export licensing review considerations for positions with access to technical data
