Job Summary
Staff Database Engineer (Customer Success) at Coupang to join the Customer Success team to deliver high-quality storage infrastructure for AI-driven automation and reliable operations of Aurora MySQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, and TiDB in a high-traffic e-commerce environment. Responsible for managing production clusters, performing minor/major upgrades, patching, parameter tuning, blue/green deployments with minimal downtime, monitoring with CloudWatch and Performance Insights, query optimization and indexing, capacity planning, incident response and on-call activities, Python-based automation, SOP development, and collaboration with development, infrastructure, and security teams to drive operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years hands-on experience as a Database Engineer
- 2+ years creating AI Automation for workflows, storage, or code
- 5+ years of experience managing Amazon Aurora MySQL and/or Aurora PostgreSQL in production
- Strong MySQL 8.0+ knowledge (replication, InnoDB internals, query optimization, troubleshooting)
- PostgreSQL experience including extensions, vacuuming, major version upgrades
- AWS database services (Aurora, RDS) and related services (CloudWatch, IAM, VPC)
- Python or similar scripting for automation
- Experience operating databases in large-scale, high-traffic environments (10,000+ TPS)
- Excellent collaboration with cross-functional teams
- English communication (preferred)
