Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to inform model development, translating ambiguous business requirements into practical supply chain solutions. Deliver data-driven solutions supporting automated decision-making at scale using advanced statistics, machine learning, and operations research techniques. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex data problems involving deep learning, demand forecasting, and lead time prediction. Analyze launched solutions to quantify outcomes and identify areas for improvement, communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. This Staff Data Scientist role focuses on shaping the vision for automating supply chain management within Coupang's Taiwan expansion team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in mathematics/statistics, computer science/engineering, industrial engineering, operations research, or any other quantitative disciplines
- 5+ years of relevant experience working in industry or academia
- Hands-on experience in statistics/ML fundamentals
- Demonstrated experience in Python
- Demonstrated experience in SQL
- Demonstrated experience in basic visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to solve ambiguous problems
- Solid knowledge of data science and machine learning fundamentals
- Proven experience to formulate business problems to data science solutions
- Ability to conduct analysis independently for a business problem
- Experience in data manipulation
- Experience in hypothesis formulation
- Experience in experiment design
- Experience in statistical analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively engage with technical and business stakeholders at all levels

- Familiarity with Big Data ecosystem (Spark, Hive, HBase)
- Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL (Redis/MongoDB) for handling complex data transformations and analysis
- Deep understanding of the e-commerce business domain
- Ability to apply cutting-edge models into production environments
