Job Summary
Staff Data Scientist to lead cross-functional analytics across Product, Engineering, Design, Operations, and Clinical teams; build models and analyses using robust statistical methods to identify key roadmap items, influence leadership with measurable recommendations, and establish scalable, self-serve analytics frameworks; mentor peers and serve as a tech lead for the Data Science org; role requires 7+ years in data science/analytics including leadership, strong SQL/Python/R skills, knowledge of causal inference methods (RCT, Diff-in-Diff, IPW, Propensity Score, IV), experience leveraging LLMs on text, and comfort communicating with executives. Onsite in NYC four days/week; total compensation target between $190,000 and $270,000 per year plus benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in data science/analytics roles, at least 3 years in a tech lead capacity
- Demonstrated ability to navigate an ambiguous data environment, with start-up experience preferred
- Experience with modeling that led to clear and concrete adoption of recommendations and demonstrated visible impact
- Detailed knowledge of causal inference methods including (but not limited to): RCT, Diff-in-Diff, IPW, Propensity Score, Instrumental Variables, Variance Reduction
- Experience with leveraging LLMs on text to generate insights and amplify existing work
- Strong technical proficiency: SQL, Python or R, modern ELT/ETL, OLAP databases (e.g., Snowflake), dbt, BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Hex), and experience setting up and scaling experimentation programs (A/B tests, causal inference, lift measurement)
- Excellent ability to communicate, collaborate, and influence business partners at all levels, but especially executives and those at Director+ levels
- Bonus: Healthcare Experience, Start-up Experience
- Passion for mission-driven work in mental health or healthcare settings and a desire to apply your skills to improve outcomes
- Note: candidates located within a 75-minute commute of our NYC office are expected to work onsite 4 days/week.
