Job Summary
Lead development and deployment of machine learning methods on longitudinal real-world patient data (EHRs, clinical notes, multi-omics) to generate clinical insights and support drug discovery. Work across epidemiology, biology, and data science teams to design, implement, and evaluate ML approaches; build and maintain ML pipelines; translate model outputs into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders; contribute to coding standards, code reviews, and project communications. Requires advanced degree in health data science/biostatistics with 5 years of ML experience in healthcare; proficiency in Python and modern DS tools; comfortable operating in a start-up/nonlinear environment; remote-friendly with US-based locations. The role is remote-friendly with salary ranges disclosed for remote and CA locations; no sponsorship is offered for work authorization.
Required Qualifications
- MS, MPH, or PhD in health data science, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field, with 5 years of experience developing and applying ML methods, including at least 3 years working directly with real-world patient data
- Experience in healthcare databases and with EHRs, administrative claims, and patient registries; familiarity with ICD, SNOMED, CPT, HCPCS, LOINC, OMOP
- Strong Python and modern data science tools (scikit-learn, PyTorch, statsmodels, SciPy); experience with ML pipelines and translating model outputs to insights
- Experience with supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning architectures, and transformer-based models; familiarity with MLOps
- Ability to lead meetings and collaborate in cross-disciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize and deliver on time; strong documentation and reproducibility practices
- Knowledge of biostatistics approaches and domain understanding of drug discovery is a plus
