Job Summary
Own and improve the Snowflake platform end-to-end, including warehouse configuration, RBAC design, and cost optimization. Manage source pipeline reliability and expansion by evaluating connections for freshness SLAs, schema drift resilience, and building net-new integrations via CDC, custom APIs, or orchestration. Ensure data accuracy, quality, and compliance through governance, observability, and monitoring best practices. Operate as technical authority on data infrastructure decisions, setting standards and guiding architectural choices for the data function. Lead pipeline incident response with root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence while optimizing batch workflows as volume scales. Maintain AWS infrastructure fluency for RDS, S3, IAM, and VPC security. This Staff Data Engineer role requires 8+ years of experience owning production data infrastructure and deep Snowflake expertise. Hybrid schedule in New York with 4 days in-office required.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, or software engineering, with experience owning production data infrastructure end-to-end
- Deep Snowflake expertise, including warehouse configuration, RBAC and role hierarchy design, connector management, cost optimization, and performance tuning at the compute layer
- Expert SQL, dbt, and Python skills, with experience building complex, high-performance queries and production-grade pipeline code
- Proven experience building and maintaining source pipelines, including CDC via logical replication, Fivetran or Airbyte connector management, custom API ingestion, orchestration, and S3-based ingestion patterns
- Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, privacy, and observability best practices
- AWS infrastructure fluency, including RDS parameter groups, S3 bucket policies, IAM role configuration, VPC networking, and security groups
- Experience working across application systems and data systems, with an understanding of how they interact
- Experience with data platform migrations, specifically running legacy and new environments in parallel
- Familiarity with healthcare or other regulated data (HIPAA compliance)
- Experience with Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Deep PostgreSQL expertise, including query optimization, database telemetry / monitoring / maintenance, index design, and RDS-specific configuration and tuning
- Experience mentoring engineers and guiding cross-functional architectural decisions
- This is a hybrid role based in our New York office and will require you to be in the office 4x in a week
