Job Summary
Senior Staff Data Engineer on the Real World Evidence (RWE) team responsible for end-to-end data architectures and large-scale pipelines handling hundreds of TBs. Lead high-visibility data initiatives, own the architecture of critical data assets, and mentor other engineers. Drive delivery of scalable, reliable data platforms and collaborate with Product, Data Science, and downstream engineering teams to align priorities, manage dependencies, and deliver high-value outcomes. Role requires hands-on technical leadership, appetite for complex data environments, and ability to operate across the full data/infrastructure stack, with experience in Spark/PySpark, SQL, Python, cloud environments, and modern orchestration/workflow tools. The position emphasizes ownership, execution, performance optimization, and cross-functional collaboration in a healthcare data context.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years as a software, data, or backend engineer building and operating scalable, production-grade systems
- Experience with large-scale data processing (e.g., Spark/PySpark on EMR or similar) or scalable distributed backend systems
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- Strong programming experience in Python
- Experience designing systems or large-scale datasets/pipelines with emphasis on performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Experience with modern engineering workflows and tooling (Git, JIRA, CI/CD)
- Comfort deploying and troubleshooting distributed workloads in cloud environments (AWS EMR or Kubernetes)
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Argo)
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive complex cross-team technical initiatives
- Background in Real World Evidence, healthcare data, or other complex/regulated data domains is preferred
- Experience with AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development encouraged
