Job Summary
Own the architecture of the data platform spanning ingestion via Hevo and Estuary, the Google BigQuery warehouse, and the dbt transformation layer. Design scalable, reliable, and secure systems that power analytics, reporting, and AI agents. Lead design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship to raise engineering discipline without a formal management role. Build and harden batch and CDC pipelines across operational databases, SaaS applications, and ERP systems while defining vendor and tooling standards. Develop end-to-end capabilities with AI coding agents like Claude Code, establishing guardrails and practices for safe, high-quality AI-assisted engineering. Strengthen governance by implementing access models, auditability, and incident-response practices to ensure data reliability. Engineer Python-based APIs, automated jobs, and internal tools beyond the warehouse to expand platform reach. Drive warehouse architecture evolution through hands-on POCs on lakehouse patterns, open table formats, and alternative query engines. Partner with analytics engineers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into durable platform capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years building data platforms and pipelines in production
- technical leadership at the staff or senior level
- expert in the modern data stack
- deep, hands-on experience with cloud data warehousing (BigQuery or equivalent)
- experience with dbt
- experience with modern ingestion tooling
- Fluent in AI-assisted development
- real experience developing with Claude Code or a similar coding agent
- expert in SQL
- expert in Python
- deeply comfortable with version control
- deeply comfortable with CI/CD
- deeply comfortable with testing workflows
- Cloud-infrastructure fluent
- experience managing serverless compute, storage, and secrets on a major cloud platform like GCP or AWS
