Job Summary
Staff Counsel in DCWP's Legal Counsel Unit provides legal advice on new and existing laws and regulations, assists with rulemaking and drafting DCWP charges and penalty schedules, drafts contracts and memoranda (including MOUs) to implement laws and enforce DCWP policies, ensures contract terms align with agency goals, collaborates with Procurement and PASSPort, serves as subject-matter expert on regulated industries, handles legal issues related to licensing, collections and enforcement, drafts legal documents, communicates with licensees, complainants, stakeholders, and sister agencies, and may, as needed, bring charges at OATH or draft settlement agreements; position may be remote up to 2 days per week under the Flexible Work Pilot Program.
Required Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- One year of satisfactory United States legal experience following bar admission or six months as Agency Attorney Intern (30086)
- Ability to work independently and in teams of attorneys and non-attorneys
