Job Summary
The Controls Systems Engineer will design, implement, and maintain a multi-site, data-centric controls and automation solution spanning Supermicro’s global facilities, including rack integration, burn-in, and cooling infrastructure. Responsibilities include defining network topology and high-availability requirements; developing and maintaining BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, and OPC-UA layers; integrating with enterprise BMS/SCADA and analytics tools; configuring sensors, meters, CDUs/CDMs, and I/O devices; collaborating with IT on IP allocation, VLANs, and cybersecurity; architecting centralized telemetry storage; and building dashboards and front-ends (Ignition SCADA, Grafana, etc.) for multiple user groups. Additional duties cover construction/project integration, cross-functional collaboration with Facilities, Production Engineering, and Architecture teams; and establishing internal standards, technical documentation, and staff training. Preferred experience includes data-center or high-density rack environments, liquid-cooling familiarity, multi-site redundant controls servers, and familiarity with visualization tools (Grafana, Node-RED, Ignition Perspective). Success metrics focus on global site connectivity, standardized telemetry, embedded BMS standards in projects, cross-department dashboards, and improvements in burn-in line utilization and diagnostic turnaround time.
