Job Summary
Staff Certification Engineer responsible for guiding certification efforts for Archer's first certified aircraft. Coordinate and support certification activities for Airframe teams; establish methods of compliance to FAA regulations; develop and execute Airframe certification plans; liaise with FAA DERs; communicate regulatory requirements clearly to teams; oversee development and execution of certification test campaigns and conformity inspections; review designs with DERs for airworthiness compliance; support regulatory meetings and prepare briefing materials; collaborate with certification team on integrated aircraft-level planning. Requires a BS in Structural Engineering or related degree and 5+ years of aircraft certification experience, including Part 23/ACs; strong interpretation of FAA regulations and stakeholder communication; bonus qualifications include FAA DER experience and eVTOL/certification of structure experience.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Structural Engineering or related degree
- 5+ years experience in certification in civil or military aircraft
- Experience with Part 23, 8110.4c, AC 20-107, AC 23-19 and other applicable regulations and guidance materials
- Ability to interpret FAA regulations and guidance material and communicate requirements to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in developing and executing certification plans
- Experience interacting and communicating directly with FAA
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Bonus Qualifications: FAA DER experience; certification of structure; FAA Conformity; experience with eVTOL, powered-lift, or other special class aircraft development; Experience with the Issue Paper process
