Job Summary
Staff Backend Engineer (Python) to design and build scalable, cloud-native backend services in Python deployed on Kubernetes and AWS. You will own backend architecture, collaborate with cross-functional teams to define service contracts, and improve CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on reliability, performance, and security. The role involves working in our Life Sciences Tech Hub in Barcelona, contributing to data collaboration solutions in healthcare, and applying best practices for security and compliance as you help power clinical research and real-world evidence initiatives. Hybrid work model with two days per week in the Gràcia office, in Barcelona.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of backend software development experience
- Professional experience developing production backend services and APIs in Python
- Hands on experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads
- Experience deploying and operating services in AWS
- Experience integrating agentic code generation tools such as Claude Code or Codex into day to day software engineering practices
