Job Summary
Staff Auditor conducts financial, operational, IT, and compliance audits per the risk-based FY Audit Plan; applies auditing principles and standards to review processes, controls, and systems; performs fieldwork (interviews, walkthroughs, testing, documentation); assesses controls for compliance with policies and regulations; identifies gaps and recommends remediation or process improvements in a K–12 public education environment; prepares formal written reports with supporting evidence; collaborates with Finance, Procurement, HR, Payroll, and IT; requires strong analytical, project management, and teamwork skills and a solid understanding of internal audit, governance, and financial processes.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting, internal audit, or finance/financial systems preferably in the public education sector
- Experience with ERP/Financial Management Systems such as LINQ, Tyler Munis, Skyward, SAP ERP, etc., enterprise procurement systems (EPES), and budgeting systems
- Experience with COSO, COBIT, and GRC frameworks
- Knowledge of GAAP/GASB and fund/grant accounting
