Job Summary
Formulate recommendations for developing and coordinating Commission programs, including legal training for lawyers and internships for law students. Draft legal memoranda, legislation, rules, policies, and procedures to reduce barriers for low-income Texans. Attend legislative, committee, or court meetings to serve as a resource on legal access matters. Conduct national and statewide research on laws, case law, and policy affecting self-represented litigants, then report findings to the Executive Director. Convene and facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholders while strengthening relationships with legal access partners. Evaluate and draft agreements on implementing Commission-approved laws and policies. Prepare drafts of reports, articles, and grant applications for publication and funding. Requires a licensed attorney with three years of experience, occasional travel, and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
