Job Summary

Independently manage moderately complex civil litigation matters involving claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damage up to approximately $50,000 exposure. Conduct comprehensive legal research, draft pleadings and motions, lead settlement negotiations, and participate in hearings and trials to achieve optimal outcomes. Develop and execute sophisticated legal strategies for discovery and trial preparation while utilizing advanced e-discovery tools and case management systems to streamline workflows. Provide strategic legal advice to clients and Claims Representatives, mentor junior attorneys, and design training sessions for Legal and Claims departments. Identify opportunities for process automation and workflow enhancements while ensuring all documentation adheres to ethical guidelines and the Model Rules of Professional Conduct. This role supports Senior Trial Counsel in all aspects of case handling and contributes to organizational improvements within Liberty Mutual's legal team.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in Washington and in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful trial attorney experience
  • Proven experience managing moderately complex litigation
  • General knowledge of insurance law
  • Exceptional legal research skills

  • Proficiency in advanced e-discovery tools
