Job Summary
Provide legal, administrative, and systemic representation to people with disabilities to protect their rights. Investigate allegations of abuse and neglect, draft investigative and monitoring reports, and analyze cases for systemic issues to formulate prevention strategies. Consult with professionals to identify barriers, lead project teams and initiatives, and participate in task forces and committees. Maintain accurate confidential files, client records, and time logs while preparing reports for funding sources. Open and close case files timely, provide multilingual client support as needed, and travel throughout New York and outside the state. This one-year position requires a New York State resident with 0-5 years of experience in public interest or disability law.
Required Qualifications
- Be a member in good standing of the New York State Bar or eligible to waive in from another jurisdiction, or be eligible to become a member within a reasonable time after beginning employment, and maintain such standing throughout employment with DRNY
- Have 0-5 years of experience
- Demonstrated interest and commitment to public interest law
- Ability to work efficiently, independently, and collaboratively as part of a team

- Outstanding professionalism and ethical judgment
- Must be a New York State resident
