Job Summary
Staff Attorney for JASA's Community Guardian Program handling guardianship, housing, and public benefits matters. Responsibilities include representing in Article 81 guardianship proceedings, housing court matters (non-payment, holdover, HP), advising on Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, and other entitlements, ensuring program compliance, drafting and reviewing pleadings (Orders to Show Cause, petitions, cross-petitions, affirmations), and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to balance legal and service needs. Requires Juris Doctor and NY Bar admission, 3+ years of litigation experience (guardianship and housing experience preferred), and ability to travel within NYC; full-time schedule with a 9–5 shift and occasional evenings. Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing
- 3+ years of litigation experience preferred
- Experience with Article 81 guardianship strongly preferred
- Experience in landlord-tenant law and Housing Court strongly preferred
