Job Summary
The Staff Attorney for the Anti-Trafficking Program is responsible for conducting in-depth client interviews, seeking immigration remedies, preparing legal documents and applications related to human trafficking cases, and providing advocacy within the criminal justice system. This role requires strong oral and written communication skills, critical thinking, the ability to develop relationships in the legal and advocacy communities, and a trauma-informed, client-centered approach. Candidates must have a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, be admitted to a state bar, and possess 2-3 years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted to a state bar
- 2-3 years of experience providing direct legal services in immigration, human trafficking and/or related field
- Bilingual oral and written fluency in Spanish
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in social justice and/or human rights fields
- Prior experience organizing and executing group trainings and information exchanges
- Familiarity with legal services, resources and procedures available to immigrant communities in New York City
- Prior experience working with immigrant populations and/or crime victim populations
- Prior experience in the field of human trafficking
