Job Summary
Staff Accountant at PLACE will manage the complete accounting cycle across a portfolio of operating entities, rental properties, and small businesses. Responsibilities include multi-entity bookkeeping, processing bill payments, monthly/quarterly reconciliations, tie-outs across entities, producing monthly and quarterly financial statements, cash flow analyses and budgets at entity and portfolio levels. You will own data entry in QuickBooks across all entities, maintain audit-ready books, manage property files and digital records, and support tax/compliance activities including state franchise, sales, excise tax returns and 1099 filings. You should excel at navigating complexity, be detail-oriented with strong accounting fundamentals, and independently manage workloads while communicating progress. Preferred experience includes multi-state tax filings, real estate/property management accounting, and familiarity with remote team workflows. Minimum qualifications emphasize a 2-year degree with related accounting experience or a 4-year degree, proficiency in QuickBooks, and multi-entity experience. In-office compensation is $28–$34 per hour in Bellingham, WA.
Required Qualifications
- 2-year degree from an accredited institution with 2+ years of experience as a bookkeeper or staff accountant OR a Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR 5+ years of equivalent accounting experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks or similar products – you have managed multiple companies or sets of books within the platform
- Experience working in a multi-entity environment, managing financials across more than one company simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Software, Google Drive, Asana, Bill.com and Dropbox
- Strong command of core accounting principles including reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and cash flow analysis
