Staff Accountant, Leases and Fixed Assets

Job Summary
Evaluate and set up leases, record monthly journal entries for lease and PP&E activity, and interface with field accounting personnel on lease issues. Record asset transfers and disposals, maintain units of production schedules for mineral interest assets, and assist the capital department with asset creation and job closeouts. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, rollforwards, and quarterly/annual reporting schedules while reviewing GL integrity reports to resolve outstanding issues. Recommend new approaches and procedures to drive process improvements and efficiencies. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required with CPA a plus; minimum one year of relevant accounting experience. Located in Raleigh, NC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting experience
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Must be a self-starter
- Must be a quick learner
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization

Desired Qualifications
- CPA
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
