Job Summary
Senior-level accounting role for a nonprofit organization focused on homelessness services. Primary responsibilities include day-to-day accounting (journal entries, revenue recognition, account reconciliations), leading the month-end close, maintaining the organization’s accounting system, monitoring grant draw-downs, preparing monthly billing, and supporting financial reporting and audits. Will oversee general ledger accounts in GAAP-compliant fashion, track grants and donations, analyze financial information for management inquiries, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, assist with tax returns and audit requests, monitor revenue and expenses, and support internal communications within the finance team. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 3-5 years of experience, strong GAAP knowledge, experience with QuickBooks Desktop or NetSuite (ERP systems), proficiency in Excel, and nonprofit/grant experience is a plus. This position is onsite only.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field
- 3-5 years of experience
- Ability to calculate and compile data using spreadsheets or other software to generate reports
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting
- Experience with Quickbooks Desktop, Net Suite, or comparable ERP systems
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
- Solid experience with managing external and internal audit requests and managing the full cycle accounting process
