Staff Accountant II

Job Summary
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close processes, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies. Assist with monthly financial statements, management reporting, and variance analysis while analyzing general ledger activity to investigate unusual account movements. Support inventory valuation, cycle count reconciliation, and fixed asset records, including tracking capital expenditures and depreciation schedules. Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, and Inventory Control teams to ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple manufacturing locations. Assist with customer billing, cash application, and vendor invoice reviews, while preparing schedules for external audits and internal control documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvement and ERP enhancements, preparing ad hoc reports for leadership. This role supports Fontaine Modification's global truck modification and engineering solutions, backed by Marmon Holdings and Berkshire Hathaway.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with both finance and operations teams
Desired Qualifications
- Manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or distribution accounting experience
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing variance analysis
- ERP system experience such as Epicor, Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, or a similar platform
- CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred but not required
- Experience supporting multi-location operations
