Job Summary
Staff Accountant role responsible for general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, maintaining balance sheet schedules and ledgers, bank reconciliations, monthly closings and financial statements, and supporting the Chief Financial Officer in finance operations. Also supports claims functions with grantors/contracts, reviews QuickBooks for billable expenses, and assists with AR, AP, and audits. Requires solid knowledge of accounting principles, QuickBooks, and MS Office, with attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in accounting, finance, or a related major or equivalent experience
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Knowledge of finance principles
- Knowledge of financial reporting
- Technical accounting skills
- Knowledge of QuickBooks
- Computer proficiency-MS Suite-Office, Excel, and Teams
- Previous experience of general accounting
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software
- Employment eligibility verification
- Reliable personal (not public) transportation available for occasional banking and other errands
- Successful completion of background screening
- Attention to detail and accuracy in accounting procedures
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple priorities at the same time
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to company accounts
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills
- Project planning, organizing, and scheduling by priority
