Staff Accountant (Full-Time Remote or On-Site)

Job Summary
Manage financial transactions and reporting by processing vendor invoices, entering cash receipts and disbursements, and preparing journal entries and account reconciliations. Support month-end closing, general ledger maintenance, and monthly financial reporting including variance explanations. Assist with hospital accounting functions such as accounts payable, accruals, fixed assets, and grant accounting while ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with finance, revenue cycle, and department leaders to resolve discrepancies and participate in process improvement efforts. Maintain confidentiality of financial and patient information in accordance with hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience
- Proficiency with excel
- Proficiency with word
- Strong analytical skills
- Good knowledge of finance terminology and processes
- Good math skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Ability to determine an appropriate course of action in more complex situations
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to be attentive to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner
- Must be able to access, find, and navigate each department at WCHS
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum weight
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's or related advanced degree
- Experience in acute care, hospital inpatient, and healthcare operations
