Job Summary
Staff Accountant at East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation (EANDC) supports accounting and financial operations for a Not-for-Profit housing organization. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties, performing variance analysis, maintaining property-level ledgers, month-end close and reconciliations, journal entries, and intercompany reconciliations. Responsibilities also cover CAM charges and true-ups, tracking Tenant Improvements and leasing commissions amortization/depreciation, utility reimbursements, fixed asset depreciation, budgeting and reforecasts, lender reporting, and ensuring GAAP compliance and internal controls. The role collaborates with property and asset management, supports year-end audit activities, and maintains organized documentation. Required skills include GAAP knowledge, proficiency with QuickBooks/NetSuite/SAP and Excel, strong confidentiality and integrity, excellent attention to detail, organizational and multitasking ability, and professional written communication. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, ability to pass background and drug screening, and willingness to volunteer at hosted organization events. Preferred qualifications include 2-4 years of accounting experience and ERP experience. Work environment is typically office-based with possible overtime during busy periods, and benefits include health/dental/long-term disability/vision insurance and a 403(b) plan.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening
- 2-4 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience with ERP software systems (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP) and MS Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Office setting with potential occasional overtime
