Job Summary
Conduct accounting support for monthly closings, periodic reviews, and annual audits to ensure general ledger funds and financial reports are accurate. Record and maintain capital assets in financial software while preparing invoices for external grant funding agencies. Monitor capital expenditures for fiscal compliance, assist with grant project financial assessments, and manage cash balances and flow. Compile routine and ad hoc reports as needed and maintain records in compliance with Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, proficiency in PeopleSoft and Crystal Reports, and 6-12+ months contract in Hampton VA (Hybrid).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related field
- demonstration of adequate communication, microcomputer, and analytical skills
- must demonstrate effective oral and written communication
- Good understanding of the accounting concepts and principles related to fund accounting
- Good problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and excellent time-management skills
- Ability to independently prepare routine reports, presentations and correspondence with minimal guidance
- Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work
- Basic problem-solving skills associated with software applications used
Desired Qualifications
- previous experience in grant administration
- MS office suite programs including, PeopleSoft accounting modules, and reporting tools such as query, NVision and Crystal reports
