Staff Accountant - (Benefits and Payroll)

Job Summary
Own the full-cycle payroll process for corporate and multi-location cafe employees, including reviewing timecards, resolving discrepancies, and administering benefits like medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations for bank accounts and credit cards, and support month-end close and financial reporting using Sage Intacct. Ensure compliance with California payroll laws and assist in audit preparation while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes. Requires 2+ years of accounting experience, proficiency in Sage Intacct or Paylocity, and advanced Excel skills. Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting and payroll experience, preferably supporting multiple locations
- Experience processing California payroll and understanding California wage and hour requirements
- Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, etc.)
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with accounting and payroll systems such as Sage Intacct, Paylocity, or similar ERP/payroll platforms a Huge Plus!!
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience in the restaurant, retail, hospitality, or food & beverage industry
- Experience administering employee benefits and supporting multi-entity accounting environments
