Staff Accountant

Job Summary
Manage accounting and financial reporting activities for multiple wind, solar, storage, and renewable energy projects. Prepare and post monthly journal entries for revenue, expenses, assets, and debt; maintain balance sheet reconciliations for cash, receivables, payables, and intercompany accounts. Research and resolve discrepancies, analyze budget-to-actual results, and investigate revenue or expense fluctuations. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, prepare project-level financial statements, and support internal and external audits. Review general ledger activity for accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor project cash balances. Maintain supporting documentation and assist with accounting system implementations. Work primarily traditional office hours in an indoor environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
- Experience preparing journal entries and completing balance sheet account reconciliations
- Experience analyzing income statements, identifying financial trends, and researching account variances
- Understanding of the relationship between balance sheet accounts and income statement activity
- Experience with monthly, quarterly, or annual financial close processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve accounting discrepancies
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and accountability
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet simultaneous deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting and cross-functional teams
- A proactive, hands-on team player who is willing to learn and work in a flexible, evolving environment
Desired Qualifications
- One to three years of general ledger, corporate, public, or project accounting experience preferred
- Experience preparing journal entries and completing balance sheet account reconciliations
