Job Summary
Manage the entire junior varsity cheerleading program, including varsity and freshman levels, while supervising assistant coaches and ensuring athlete safety. Conduct mandatory pre-season meetings, submit eligibility rosters, and oversee equipment inventory, repairs, and lost-item fees. Assist with scouting contests, maintaining award lists, and preparing the annual budget. Arrive early for practices to secure facilities and teach fundamentals while supervising athletes at all times. This temporary, 12-month stipend position supports education-based athletics at Charles County Public Schools, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and character.
Required Qualifications
- Certified teachers or professional educators employed by a local Board of Education
- Individuals certified by MSDE under COMAR 13A.12.01
- Credentialed coaches who are eligible for a Maryland certificate under COMAR 13A.12.01
- Credentialed coaches who hold MPSSAA/MSDE Coaching Certification
- Credentialed coaches who have two years of successful emergency coaching experience
- Credentialed coaches who have one year of successful emergency coaching experience at the hiring school in the position applied for
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
- Visual acuity to use a keyboard
- Ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
