Job Summary
Develop and manage safety plans in compliance with federal OSHA guidelines and the Government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, lead emergency drills, and investigate accidents or near-misses while reporting incidents to federal authorities. Provide safety orientation and ongoing training for site personnel, ensuring adherence to personal protective equipment protocols. Maintain comprehensive safety logs, tracking records, and documentation for submission to federal agencies. Attend strategic planning sessions and pre-work meetings to oversee project specifications. Primarily on-site with occasional office work for documentation, requiring availability for after-hours emergency calls and weekend site visits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, occupational health and safety or a related field
- Must be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS I-551)
- Required training & experience in accordance with EM 385-1-1 Section 01.A.17 and all associated sub-paragraphs
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction safety and quality control, preferably on federal construction projects
- Familiarity with federal contracting regulations (FAR) and federal safety/quality standards
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Proficient in safety and quality control software/tools
- Understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and agency specific regulations, including the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR)
- Competent with MS Office products (i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Primarily on-site, with some office work for documentation
- Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand or sit for long periods of time, access roofs, crawl spaces and all construction areas
- Must be available for emergency calls and site visits after hours or weekends, if needed
- Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks
- Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies
- Valid driver's license

- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST)
- Quality Control certification, such as Certified Quality Manager (CQM) by the Construction Quality Management (CQM) programs for contractors
