Job Summary
Lead students in fun, engaging after-school programming providing daily academic, recreation, and enrichment activities for TK through 8th grade. Assist Lead Teachers in collecting academic data, tailoring instruction to individual needs, and supporting intervention for struggling learners and English Language Learners. Monitor student behavior, enforce conduct rules, and create safe environments for outdoor play, lunch, and recess. Facilitate social-emotional learning lessons, plan physical activities, and adapt enrichment for students with special needs per I.E.P. and 504 plans. Track attendance, oversee snack and supper programs, and participate in school-wide community events. Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families, and engage in professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or a minimum of 48 college-level credit hours
- Experience working in a relevant TK-8 grade school setting or other high-quality educational setting
- Experience or willingness to work in a socio-economically, racially, and culturally diverse classroom setting
- Communicate verbally and in writing effectively
- Approximately 50% of the time is spent sitting while frequently required to walk, stand, and bend
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a can-do attitude
- Investment in creating a safe and positive school community in which social-emotional learning is the foundation of the culture
- Belief and willingness to ensure that all students can learn and achieve at high levels
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively use those skills with a diverse audience
- Experience working with diverse populations, including English language learners and students with special needs
- Effectively manage and instruct both small and large groups of students
- Exhibit ability to work with children in a caring and respectful manner creates a joyful and caring school environment
- Instructional time includes community building, conflict resolution, skill-building, and empowering students to be peacemakers and agents for positive social change
- Excitement about learning and implementing new teaching methods and effective practices aligned with the CWC model and positively impacting students
- Enthusiasm for the opportunities and challenges inherent to working with school-aged children
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
- Comfort with ambiguity and working in a fast-paced school environment
- Demonstrated initiative and tenacity
- Employees must lift and/or move unassisted up to 25 pounds
- Travel to staff meetings, school meetings, and training as scheduled and required
