Job Summary
Senior Underwriter, Commercial Lines (Farm) at Nationwide. Responsible for accepting, retaining and pricing moderate to high exposure new, renewal and endorsement commercial business policies within authority. Provides underwriting technical support, mentors less experienced staff, and collaborates with assigned agencies and field sales underwriters to develop business opportunities. Manages a portfolio with a focus on achieving service levels, quality file handling, and data-driven decision making. May lead larger projects requiring cross-functional collaboration, participate in training and development, and advise agents on commercial contracts, procedures, and best practices. Role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of commercial underwriting policy, rating plans, and applicable state/federal regulations, and the ability to evaluate risks and determine pricing. Work arrangement supports remote/hybrid options with leadership consultation, and assignments may involve occasional travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- Three years of underwriting experience or related business experience preferred
- Experience leading or working on complex projects and teams preferred
