Sr Transmission Ops NERC Compliance Specialist

Job Summary
Review proposed NERC standards and alerts, then update Transmission Operations policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Develop and maintain reliability audit standard worksheets (RSAW) while acting as a subject matter expert for internal controls and cross-functional coordination. Represent LIPA on NYISO working groups and respond to NERC alerts, performing compliance notifications to the Department of Energy, NERC, and NPCC. Maintain evidence supporting NERC Reliability standards and conduct seasonal ratings reviews and communications compliance audits. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or 5+ years of relevant experience, including Transmission control center operations. Valid US Driver's License required for field travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
- 5 years relevant work experience
- Relevant work experience should include a combination of NERC reliability and Transmission control center experience or equivalent
- Knowledge and understanding of the NERC rules, regulations, and policies, as related to reliability
- Knowledge and understanding of the operation of a Transmission control center
- Understanding of wind, solar, and storage design fundamentals and associated risks to the bulk electric system
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and to work collaboratively across an organization to identify issues and create solutions
- Valid US Driver's License
- NERC Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator certification expected to be obtained within 6 months
- Must be a citizen or national of the USA, a lawful permanent resident of the United States, a citizen/national/permanent resident of a Generally Authorized destination, or a Protected Individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act
