Job Summary
Senior Magnetics Engineer to design and test transformers and inductors for three-phase power distribution products. Responsibilities include designing magnetic components (transformers, chokes, inductors, current transformers) to meet specifications for performance, size, cost, efficiency and manufacturability; supporting manufacturing with fabrication/testing techniques; prototyping and testing to verify specifications; root-cause analysis of failures; evaluating new materials and technologies; providing design assistance to global engineering teams and participating in concept/design reviews; providing technical leadership to engineers and other team members; aligning with Vertiv’s safety, integrity, respect, teamwork, and inclusion principles.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with power/magnetics emphasis
- A minimum of 7 years relevant experience
- In-depth knowledge of theory and practice in magnetic component design
- Skilled in the use of electromechanical simulation, analysis and design tools such as OSP, Ansoft, or similar.
- Familiarity with FMEA
- Thorough knowledge of agency and compliance (e.g. UL) requirements for magnetic components
- Good written and verbal communications skills; Ability to manage multiple assignments productively; Ability to work in a challenging, team oriented environment
- Ability to collaborate on a global scale
