Job Summary
Manage complex trademark litigation cases from intake through appeal, including discovery, trial, and TTAB inter partes proceedings. Implement case management tools, organize file documents, and initiate docketing within the Firm's CompuLaw system. Draft pleadings, discovery documents, and routine motions while assisting attorneys with case strategy and client management. Coordinate trial logistics, prepare exhibits, and conduct legal research using Westlaw. Perform trademark enforcement investigations of USPTO applications and unauthorized common law uses, including social media monitoring for infringing content. Requires 5+ years of law firm experience, proficiency with electronic research tools, and ability to work under pressure.
Required Qualifications
- California Only: Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
- Must satisfy requirements of California Business & Professions Code §6450 et seq.
- A minimum of 5- years of relevant work experience in a professional environment including demonstrated progressive increase in responsibility managing litigation matters
- Law firm experience
- Proficient with electronic research tools such as Westlaw
- High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Acrobat, Litigation Support Applications (e.g., Everchron, West Case Notebook, Case Map), Pacer, Electronic Filing, Westlaw (and other internet research tools
- Ability to perform well under pressure
- Respectful to other individuals working directly or indirectly with them
- Reliable and dependable team player
- Must be a good planner who is very detail-oriented and can organize and prioritize
- Must be action and results oriented
- Maintain confidentiality of client information
- Must have effective written and oral communication skills
- Work independently, taking initiative to move projects to a conclusion
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate from an ABA-approved program
- Outside of California: Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
