Sr. Test Engineer

Job Summary
Coordinate with test sites and team participants to plan test events and develop test plans for tasks, dependencies, and participants required to mitigate system quality risks. Track problems and reports on errors, then manage the defect database under the guidance of senior QA engineers. Write or assist in the development of test plants and test procedures, while escalating issues regarding project requirements to the Project Manager or Sr. Test Manager. This role supports the Financial Technology Service within the VA Financial Services Center, covering enterprise requirements including timekeeping, payroll, and financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Other Engineering or Technical Discipline
- 8 years of additional relevant experience
- 5 years related experience
- Experience working with developers, end users and organizations to create test plans and test scripts
- Experience with configuring necessary hardware and operating environments
- Comprehensive technical expertise on IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems and networks and specialized environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
- Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail
- Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings
- Knowledge of military and Veteran populations
