Job Summary

Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax filings, including income, franchise, and insurance premium tax returns, while managing calendars and estimated payments. Own quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, maintain workpapers, and support internal and external audit requests. Serve as the key point of contact for tax notices and inquiries from federal and state authorities, partnering with external advisors to drive resolution. Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and Operations to assess tax implications and support Medicare Advantage-related data requests. Monitor tax legislation and translate complex issues into recommendations for Finance leadership. Identify opportunities to enhance tax processes, automation, and compliance workflows while supporting SOX efforts. Utilize tax and ERP platforms including OneSource, CorpTax, Oracle, and Workday. Based in Orange County, CA, this hybrid role requires a CPA license and 4–6 years of corporate tax experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing and reviewing income tax provisions under ASC 740
  • Practical experience managing multi-state tax compliance, including exposure to insurance or franchise taxes
  • Experience supporting external auditors and tax advisors with documentation and technical analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, modeling, and data analysis
  • Working knowledge of at least one major tax compliance software platform (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax) and ERP system (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP)
  • Located in Orange County, CA as role is Hybrid as needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the healthcare, managed care, or insurance industry, with Medicare Advantage exposure strongly preferred
  • Experience working within a regulated payer or health plan environment
  • Exposure to insurance premium tax filings, statutory (STAT) reporting, or CMS-facing financial processes
  • Master's degree in Taxation (MST)
  • Coursework or specialized study in healthcare finance, insurance accounting, or regulatory compliance
  • Training in SOX compliance, internal controls, or finance process improvement
  • Familiarity with tax technology automation tools or AI-assisted compliance workflows
  • No additional licensure is required for this individual contributor role; however, maintenance of the CPA credential is expected
