Job Summary
The IT Sr Systems Engineer I will lead complex Power BI projects, develop advanced dashboards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. This hybrid position requires strong technical skills in cloud and data integration, along with the ability to mentor junior developers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Networking
- 4 - 7 years' experience in IT infrastructure design, application design, cloud computing, disaster/recovery, or 6-9 years of relevant experience
- Experience with system administration
- Demonstrated ability to design and document processes & procedures
- Experience transitioning work to operational teams
- Maintained experience with data analytics business intelligence, with 5+ years focused on Power BI development
- Demonstrated competence with business acumen within own discipline or function
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate highly technical information in non-technical terminology (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with strong teamwork skills
- Demonstrates ability to influence up down and across
- Drives innovation by leveraging alternative perspectives and emerging technologies to deliver creative solutions
- Demonstrated ability to deliver work aligning to project management principles & framework
- Demonstrated ability to provide financial impact analysis
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; participates in peer code reviews
- Solid understanding of the capabilities of standard monitoring tools
- Ability to evaluate a solution against current security requirements and future industry trends
- Able to use PowerShell, Ansible, or another appropriate scripting tool to automate common tasks/create reports and troubleshoot issues with existing scripts
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M language), and Power BI Service.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and relational databases (SQL Server, Azure Synapse, etc.).
- Experience with Power BI gateways, dataflows, and enterprise-level deployment strategies.
- Proven ability to analyze complex datasets and design intuitive, impactful dashboards.
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to work closely with business and technical stakeholders.
- Microsoft Certification PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst Associate) or DA-100 (legacy).
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or Data Lake.
- Familiarity with Python or R for advanced analytics and Power BI REST API for automation.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies, DevOps pipelines, and CI CD for BI artifacts.
