Job Summary
Senior Tool Room Supervisor/Engineer oversees daily Tool Room and Cutter Grind operations, supervising hourly skilled trades, coordinating work, and supporting engineering resources. Responsibilities include managing tool-room routing, sharpening cutting tools, handling emergency machine-part repairs, analyzing production elements for cost and performance improvements, managing departmental budgets, ensuring safety and quality of finished parts, maintaining machinery and equipment, and collaborating with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to deliver timely, high-quality tooling and fixtures. Must have hands-on knowledge of turning, milling, grinding, broaching, honing, heat treatment, and experience with tooling/process optimization; strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; and ability to lead a team in a unionized manufacturing environment. Proficiency with Maximo, SAP, AutoCad, and Visual Manufacturing is required or highly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering discipline or accredited Toolmaker with 3+ years supervisory experience
- Experience in Tool Room, machine repair equipment
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on metal removal
- Experience in a Union environment (preferred)
- Knowledge of tooling and manufacturing processes and equipment
- Proficiency with MS Office; ability to learn Maximo, SAP, AutoCad, Visual Manufacturing
