Sr. Substation Engineer

Job Summary
Lead civil and structural design for high-voltage substation facilities. Prepare scopes of work, engineering estimates, and technical evaluations. Perform site analysis, including grading, drainage, and clearing requirements. Conduct structural and foundation analysis based on loading and soil conditions. Determine optimal foundation types for site-specific conditions. Develop civil design packages including site layouts, grading plans, drainage plans, and foundation details. Coordinate with internal engineering teams, vendors, and clients. Provide field engineering support during construction activities as required. Perform quality reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Mentor junior engineers and support technical development within the team. Technical skills include experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, L-Pile, RISA, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley Substation; familiarity with industry codes and utility standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university (or equivalent experience)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- In lieu of PE, additional relevant experience may be considered
- 7+ years of hands-on substation civil engineering experience
- Strong understanding of structural/foundation engineering and substation site design
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with grading, drainage, and hydrology/water flow calculations
- Familiarity with industry codes, utility standards, and engineering best practices
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, L-Pile, RISA, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley Substation is a plus
