Job Summary
Sr Structural Engineer to join Nextpower’s Europe Project Engineering Team based in Italy (remote position). You will manage day-to-day issues on utility-scale PV projects across Europe, lead all structural engineering decisions (wind load, foundation sizing, steel/concrete design), and serve as the signing engineer in Italy. The role includes mentoring engineering staff, coordinating with global teams (US, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, India), handling Genio Civile submissions and compliance, producing design documentation, RFIs, and technical calculation packages, and contributing to product development and standards across regions. Strong leadership, regulatory knowledge (NTC), and a track record in EPC/renewable projects are required, as well as proficiency with AutoCAD, LPile, RISA, STAAD, and English/Italian language skills.
Required Qualifications
- BS or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Chartered/licensed professional engineer in Italy (Abilitazione all'esercizio della professione / Iscrizione all'Ordine degli Ingegneri) with signing authority
- Regulatory expertise with Genio Civile workflows
- Deep understanding of Italian structural construction codes (NTC) and regional authorization procedures
- Minimum 5 years of structural engineering experience in EPC/renewable energy/infrastructure
- Leadership experience including mentoring or managing engineering teams
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, LPile, and structural analysis software (RISA, STAAD, or equivalents)
- Knowledge of design standards: Italian NTC, Eurocodes, ASCE, AISC, AISI, IBC
- Extensive experience in wind, seismic, foundation, dead and live loads; design of steel and concrete structures; construction documents
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; experience working in cross-functional, multicultural environments
- Languages: English and Italian; Spanish a plus
- Willingness to travel occasionally for site investigations, field support, or meetings with local authorities
- Programming skills in VB and Python a plus
- Background in solar tracker foundation and structural design and optimization
- Experience in matrixed, global organizations
